About Eddie F
Edward 'Eddie F' Ferrell is an American record producer, DJ, songwriter and record executive. He served as Vice President of A&R at LaFace Records from 1993 to 1995, Executive Vice President of Motown from 1995 to 1997, and Executive Consultant to Chairman L.A. Reid at Def Jam Recordings from 2005 to 2007.
He founded Untouchables Entertainment Group, through which he discovered and signed R&B singer Donell Jones, R&B/Hip-Hop pioneers I.N.T.R.O. and Hip-Hop legends Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth.
As a producer he has worked with Mary J. Blige, Erick Sermon, GUY, LL Cool J, Angie Stone and Al B. Sure!, and served as primary and executive producer on Donell Jones' first four albums — including the 1999 single "U Know What's Up," a Billboard Hot 100 top ten and a number one on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
A key figure in hip hop and R&B sampling, Ferrell is credited with creating the first "featured artist remix" — reworking a track with both a new instrumental and a verse from a hip hop artist — on the 1990 remix of Johnny Gill's "Rub U The Right Way" featuring C.L. Smooth. He also helped high school friend Al B. Sure! land his deal by playing the demo for Uptown boss Andre Harrell.
